Setting up the Polaflex Mole Trap is straightforward, and with a few easy steps, you'll be on your way to dealing with mole problems in no time.
Step 1: Find Active Mole Tunnels
Fresh molehills are a clear sign of active tunneling. These mounds will typically be loose piles of soil without any grass or vegetation on top.
If you’re having trouble identifying active tunnels, check out our previous blog post: How to Find Active Mole Tunnels: A Simple Guide. It offers helpful tips for locating where the moles are most active.
Step 2: Prepare the Trap
Once you've found an active tunnel, it’s time to prepare your Polaflex Mole Trap for installation.
Unbox the Trap: Open your POLAFLEX package, and you’ll find the mole trap and a red flag.
Wear Gloves: Moles have an excellent sense of smell, so it’s crucial to wear gloves during setup. If they detect any unfamiliar scent, they may dig a new tunnel nearby, avoiding the trap.
Check the Trap's Tension: Before setting the trap, check the nuts to ensure they aren’t too tight. Tight nuts could make the trap difficult to set. If needed, loosen them slightly, but avoid making the trap too sensitive. You want the trigger to be firm, not too easily triggered.
To set the trap: Our trap does not require digging. Place your foot on the trap and press down firmly, gently rocking it back and forth to loosen the soil., making sure the activation disk is flush with the ground. This ensures the trap will trigger properly when a mole enters.
Step 3: Mark with the Flag and Wait
Once the trap is in place, use the red flag to mark the location. Then, sit back, relax, and wait for the mole to be trapped.
Step 4: Release the Trap
You just need to place the left and right ends of the trap on a hard surface, continue to press the pedal hard, and the trap will be released. Of course, if you need, you can use our matching POLAFLEX mole release device.
Moles are persistent creatures, so don’t be discouraged if it takes a little time. Check the trap regularly, and if it’s triggered, go ahead and dispose of the mole. If the trap isn’t activated after a few days, it might be time to move it to a new spot or set up additional traps.
Keep Going Until You’re Mole-Free
Moles tend to be stubborn, so you may need to set multiple traps or relocate them as needed. Continue monitoring the trap until you’ve successfully solved your mole problem.
